Your Collision Recovery Experts

Frequently Asked Questions

I've been in a car accident, what do I do first?

Call us to set up an appointment for a comprehensive two-hour initial examination with Dr. Kelly.

What kind of cases do you handle?

We handle all motor vehicle collision injuries—no case is too small or too big. We regularly manage complex cases involving multiple injuries, ensuring each patient receives the most appropriate care.

What does the course of care look like at Kelly Chiropractic?

Our standard course includes a thorough intake exam; we issue ice packs and appropriate durable medical equipment (such as cervical pillows or lumbar support cushions) to help you heal. Treatment typically involves a series of chiropractic visits and progressive deep-tissue massage therapy with cryotherapy. Dr. Kelly monitors your recovery closely, making adjustments to your care plan as needed.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring photo ID, your PIP claim number & insurance adjuster contact information, and your attorney's contact information.

What if I don't have an attorney?

We collaborate with reputable local attorneys and can refer you to the best legal counsel in the area. If you’re unsure about who to contact, let us know, and we’ll help connect you with reliable, experienced representation.

What if I don't have money up-front for my care?

In Washington State, insurers must offer Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage with a minimum of $10,000, which can go toward your treatment. Our clinic will help you open a PIP claim if you haven't already. In Oregon, PIP insurance is a mandatory coverage, and insurers must provide at least $15,000 in coverage per person. If you waived or exhausted PIP coverage, we can still provide the care you need on credit under a letter of protection with your attorney. Your attorney will pay for your treatment from your settlement or jury verdict, and we handle all the billing details.

Does your office handle billing the PIP carrier for me?

Yes, we take care of billing the PIP (Personal Injury Protection) carrier for you. Once you provide your claim number to us, there is nothing more you need to do—we'll handle the billing process, and (if necessary) the appeals process. If you need assistance opening your claim, we're happy to help guide you through that process. We routinely appeal when insurers deny valid claims, and ensure that your medical needs are addressed without any unnecessary hassle.

How experienced is your clinic?

We are highly specialized in collision injury care and have treated thousands of patients and performed tens of thousands of examinations over the course of Dr. Kelly’s decades-long career in chiropractic neurology.

Will Dr. Kelly testify on my behalf if a fair settlement cannot be reached?

Yes, Dr. Kelly is ready, willing, and able to provide testimony on your behalf if a fair settlement cannot be reached. With extensive experience testifying in legal proceedings, Dr. Kelly is well-versed in explaining medical findings clearly and effectively to help support your case. Dr. Kelly's goal is to ensure that your medical perspective is fully understood and fairly represented.

Does Dr. Kelly or the staff speak languages other than English?

Dr. Kelly speaks some Russian and Spanish, specifically for medical purposes. While not fluent, Dr. Kelly can communicate enough to help patients feel comfortable and complete a physical examination without needing to take a detailed history. Please note that the office staff does not speak other languages, so if detailed interpretation is needed, we recommend bringing a family member to interpret at the initial examination.

Can Dr. Kelly treat me if I’m pregnant and have been in a car accident?

Absolutely. We have specialized massage positioning supports designed to allow pregnant patients to receive massage therapy comfortably while lying face-down. Both chiropractic care and massage therapy are excellent options for pregnant patients, especially since many medications may not be safe during pregnancy. Dr. Kelly and the team are experienced in providing safe and effective care tailored to the needs of expecting mothers.

My whole family was hurt in the auto accident. Does Dr. Kelly treat children?

Yes, Dr. Kelly provides care for patients of all ages, including children. We understand the unique needs of younger patients and ensure that treatments are gentle, effective, and age-appropriate to help your whole family recover.

I had pre-existing pain that worsened after my car accident. Can Dr. Kelly help clarify how much of my condition is due to the accident?

Yes, Dr. Kelly can assess and clarify the extent to which your injuries are related to the accident versus pre-existing conditions. This process of apportioning injuries helps provide a clear understanding for all parties involved.

Does Dr. Kelly have an extensive referral network of specialists for musculoskeletal and neurological injuries, including surgeries?

Yes, Dr. Kelly has an extensive network of trusted specialists for both musculoskeletal and neurological injuries. If your treatment requires specialized care or surgery, we can provide referrals to ensure you receive the best possible support for your recovery.

I was injured in two separate accidents, and the second accident worsened injuries from the first while also causing new injuries. Can Dr. Kelly determine which injuries are from each accident?

Yes, Dr. Kelly can assess and apportion the injuries to determine which are related to each accident. This process helps provide clarity for all parties involved.
